MEETING REPORT

Meeting began at approximately 5:30 p.m. and was concluded at 7:30 p.m.

A public information meeting was held on May 1, 2007 at the Quality Inn in Trinidad. The meeting was open to the residents and businesses of Trinidad and the nearby area. The purpose of the meeting was to inform and update the community of the construction schedule and general information of Phase 2 NB construction.

The meeting format was a short presentation followed by a question and answer session and wrapped up with an open house with graphics, which included project maps and project phases.

Special guests included: Mayor Joseph Reorda, Russell George, Tim Harris, and Sergeant Packard.

Lowell Lester welcomed the crowd and introduced the team and Mayor Reorda. Mr. Reorda gave his strong support of the project. Mr. George and Mr. Harris then lent their commitment to the project and the City of Trinidad to support this effort. David Morris, Project Manager for Lawrence Construction, presented the elements of the project and the construction schedule. Mr. Lester then introduced Sergeant Packard who stressed the commitment from the Colorado State Patrol to safety enforcement and zero tolerance for speeding or otherwise disobeying caution signs. Mary T. Dugan wrapped up the formal presentation with a brief description of CDOT’s outreach to small businesses, assistance with certification, support of training programs and job fairs.

A question and answer session followed the presentation. The comments centered mainly around signage with suggestions for improvements and working hours of the construction crew.

Lowell Lester made closing remarks and invited everyone to spend time at the open house reviewing the exhibits and speaking with the engineering team and other experts. Mary T. Dugan, Charles Griego and Clyde Nash provided information about the outreach programs being supported by CDOT.

Handouts included; Construction Related Frequently Asked Questions, Circle of Partnerships Community Outreach Packet, Construction Contact Information, Workforce Center Construction Related Activities and TSJC Pre-Apprenticeship Course Content/Modules.

The last guests left the open house at 7:30 p.m.
