April 27, 2007 Weather Delays Demolition
The demolition of the Main Street bridge scheduled for earlier this week has been delayed due to weather conditions, it is being rescheduled for next week. When demolition begins, the southbound on-ramp from Main Street will be temporarily closed while the bridge deck and girders are being dismantled. Also next week, the construction of retaining walls and storm drains will continue near Main Street and Commercial Street. April 20, 2007 Demolition Begins Over Main Street
Demolition of the I-25 bridge over Main Street will begin Monday and Tuesday of next week. The southbound ramp will be closed, all other ramps will remain open. All ramps should reopen on Wednesday April 25. Weather caused a one day delay for the planned shift of the northbound traffic to the left lane of southbound lanes. Both the northbound and southbound directions will have only one lane of traffic available. April 13, 2007 Median Work Continues
Last week CDOT restricted the southbound lanes to the right lane for continued median work and concrete barrier placement. According to the schedule, on April 16 northbound traffic will be detoured to the left lane of the southbound lanes. Both the northbound and southbound directions will have only one lane of traffic available. This lane configuration will allow for the reconstruction of the Interstate 25 bridges over Main Street and over the Purgatoire River and is expected to remain in effect until September 2007. April 6, 2007 Construction Has Begun
The widening and reconstruction of Interstate 25 through Trinidad began in early February with single lane closures for median work. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has awarded a $38.3 Million contract to Lawrence Construction Company, who will reconstruct northbound I-25 from Van Buren to Goddard Avenue. This work includes the northbound viaduct structure, the mainline bridges over the Purgatoire River and Main Street and the entrance and exit ramps at Main and Commercial Street interchanges. The project also involves excavation work, asphalt paving, new guardrails, lighting, other utility improvements, landscaping, signing and striping. (click to read more)
