An I-25 Trinidad construction bulletin is released monthly and details the general schedule for the upcoming month. Monthly schedules are preliminary and subject to change dependent on weather or other factors:

June/July 2008 Construction Bulletin

The following construction activities have been completed: Concrete paving on Commercial Street, the NB Commercial Street on-ramp and the NB Main Street on-ramp. Girder placement on the Purgatoire River bridges. Look for the following construction activities during the month of June/July 2008: Continuing work: Girder placement and concrete deck panel installation on the NB viaduct structure. Concrete deck panel installation on the Purgatoire River bridges. MSE wall construction and traffic barrier installation along I-25 ramps. New work: Installing curb and gutter and sidewalks along Commercial Street. Paving the Main Street off-ramp.

May 2008 Construction Bulletin

The following construction activities have been completed: All sub-structures for the Viaduct, Purgatoire River and ramp bridges have been completed Main Street bridge deck has been placed Commercial on ramp concrete paving partially complete Stabilization of slopes (VanBuren, College/Purgatoire) by seeding, mulching and erosion blankets Look for the following construction activities during the month of May 2008: Continuing work: Continued work on the sanitary sewer and water lines in Commercial and Pine streets Installation of storm sewer lines several locations on the project Placement and grouting of pre-cast concrete deck panels on Viaduct, Commercial off ramp and Purgatoire River bridges MSE wall caps and moment slabs New work: Portland Cement Concrete Paving on Commercial and Main Street ramps and intersections Curb and gutter, raised medians at Cedar and Nevada intersection and SH 12 and State Street intersection Type 7 Bridge Rail slip forming on Commercial on ramp

February 2008 Construction Bulletin

Look for the following construction activities during the month of February 2008: NB Viaduct pier construction near University Street and Nevada Avenue. Girder erection and deck panel installation at the Purgatoire River bridges and Main Street Bridge. Construction of retaining walls along I-25 between Main Street and University Street.

November 2007 Construction Bulletin

Look for the following construction activities through the end of November 2007: Girder erection and additional pier construction on the northbound viaduct. Start up of construction on the proposed bridges over the Purgatoire River. Continuing work on the bridge at Main Street. Utility installation on Hadad and Commercial Street. Continuing retaining wall construction.

September/October 2007 Construction Bulletin

CDOT’s Contractor continues to make great progress on the reconstruction of I-25 NB through the City of Trinidad. Following is the expected activities through the end of October 2007: Miscellaneous utility replacements/installations. Clean up of the viaduct removal. Finishing the Main Street Bridge substructure and setting of the bridge girders. Installing the Main Street landscape walls. Construction and grading of the water quality pond near the location of the old Pizza Hut. Continuing construction on the I-25 retaining walls.

July 2007 Construction Bulletin

As summer continues with its warm weather, reconstruction of I-25 through the City of Trinidad is in full swing. Multiple construction activities are going on concurrently. Following are the expected construction activities through the end of July: All traffic will be detoured to the Southbound Lanes on Monday, July 16th. Demolition of the Pizza Hut and Amoco Buildings is scheduled for July 16th through 18th. Demolition of the existing northbound viaduct will start on July 19 and continue through the end of the month or into the first part of August. At the I-25/Main Street Interchange, the Contractor will install a section of the new storm drain system and build the roadway fill for the northbound off-ramp. Several viaduct pier columns and footings will be constructed. Pile driving will continue for the viaduct piers and abutments. Continuing construction of the MSE retaining walls at the I-25/Commercial Street interchange ramps. Watch for temporary local road closures during the viaduct demolition.

June 2007 Construction Bulletin

Reconstruction of I-25 through the City of Trinidad is well underway. As the summer season approaches expect the work effort to increase. In the past few months CDOT’s Contractor has detoured portions of northbound I-25 onto the southbound lanes; demolished the existing northbound I-25 Main Street Bridge; constructed portions of the storm drain system; began repairs to the existing southbound viaduct bridge deck; and started reconstruction of northbound I-25 on the south end of the project. During the next four to six weeks look for CDOT’s Contractor to work on/complete the following: Complete the deck repairs of the existing southbound I-25 viaduct; this is in preparation for two-way traffic on the viaduct. Start/complete utility work under the BNSF Railroad tracks to extend sanitary and storm sewer lines. Continue the reconstruction of northbound I-25 between Van Buren and Main Street. Construct the I-25 NB over Main Street Bridge abutments and associated landscape walls. Start construction of retaining walls at the Main Street I-25 NB off-ramp, and Commercial Street I-25 NB on-ramp. Start construction of the new northbound viaduct foundations. At this time no local road detours or closures are planned in the next four weeks, however there will be continued lane closures on the southbound lanes of I-25 for completion of the viaduct deck repairs.
