June 2007 Construction Bulletin
Reconstruction of I-25 through the City of Trinidad is well underway. As the summer season approaches expect the work effort to increase. In the past few months CDOT’s Contractor has detoured portions of northbound I-25 onto the southbound lanes; demolished the existing northbound I-25 Main Street Bridge; constructed portions of the storm drain system; began repairs to the existing southbound viaduct bridge deck; and started reconstruction of northbound I-25 on the south end of the project.
During the next four to six weeks look for CDOT’s Contractor to work on/complete the following:
- Complete the deck repairs of the existing southbound I-25 viaduct; this is in preparation for two-way traffic on the viaduct.
- Start/complete utility work under the BNSF Railroad tracks to extend sanitary and storm sewer lines.
- Continue the reconstruction of northbound I-25 between Van Buren and Main Street.
- Construct the I-25 NB over Main Street Bridge abutments and associated landscape walls.
- Start construction of retaining walls at the Main Street I-25 NB off-ramp, and Commercial Street I-25 NB on-ramp.
- Start construction of the new northbound viaduct foundations.
At this time no local road detours or closures are planned in the next four weeks, however there will be continued lane closures on the southbound lanes of I-25 for completion of the viaduct deck repairs.
